Wishes

A wish granted is a life changing experience for the child, providing respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors, and treatment.

Wherever possible, we invite the whole immediate family to share in the wish, to experience moments of joy and make memories to last a lifetime. We have granted over 3,250 Wishes in Ireland, and every wish is unique.

The Wish Process

Step 1 - Application

We welcome queries from parents/guardians/medical professionals or children themselves but the application MUST be completed by the Parent/legal guardian of the child

Step 2 - Eligibility Criteria

We grant one wish for a child, who must be aged 3 - 17, living with a critical illness and resident in Ireland. The child’s treating consultant makes the final determination on medical eligibility to receive and participate in the Wish.

Step 3 - The Wish Journey

Once eligibility is approved, the wish making process is child-led. Our Wishgranting and Volunteering team will support the wish child and family on their wish journey.

Step 4 – Granting the Wish

Once a child’s wish is approved and authorised by the treating consultant and Make-A-Wish Ireland, the Wishgranting team set out to make it come true and create a magical wish experience for the child that will last a lifetime.

Do you know a child fighting a critical illness, who could benefit from a life-changing wish?
